Heavy Metal Toxicity

Feeling tired, rundown, depressed?  It could be heavy metal overload in the body.

The liver is one of the body’s elimination organs.  It plays a vital role in removing toxins out of the blood. If the liver isn’t functioning effectively then it will struggle to detox. Toxins such as heavy metals can accumulate in the soft tissue of the body and cause a number of signs and symptoms.

Some heavy metals have been connected to depression such as mercury (amalgam fillings), lead (old paint), cadmium (smoking).  There are many research papers linking heavy metal toxicity to depression. If there is a continuous exposure to chemicals such as these and the liver gets overloaded then it will be unable to completely rid them from the body. Therefore increasing the severity of depression and anxiety.

Signs and symptoms that the liver needs a little extra care include:
Abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, pain over the area of the liver, excessive abdominal fat, pot belly, difficulty digesting fatty foods, gall bladder has been removed, reflux, acne/rosacea or itchy skin.

We can do an in clinic Heavy Metal urine test.  This includes urine testing for the metals: Zinc, Lead, Copper, Cadmium, & Mercury. If the test shows positive for any of the metals then a treatment plan is developed based on the individuals case history as well as signs and symptoms.

Signs of excess Zinc include: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Signs of excess Lead include: sleep disorders, hyperactivity, language delay, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, constipation, headaches, lethargy, seizures.

Signs of excess Copper include: fatigue, exhaustion, hypothyroid, racing mind, panic attacks, depression, hair loss, brain fog, high anxiety, emotional numbing, loss of drive in the bedroom, chocolate cravings, insomnia, joint aches and pains, ADD etc

Signs of excess Cadmium: mental illness, ADHD, degenerative diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, heart & kidney disease, hardening of tissues and aging of the body, reduced fertility, smokers cough.

Signs of excess Mercury: insomnia, mood swings, irritability, headaches, muscle twitching, weakness, tremours, muscle atrophy, difficulty breathing, bleeding gums, memory problems, seizures, pain.

Who am I?

I am a Bachelor qualified Naturopath who specialises in improving metabolic processes in the body. Major areas for improvement include gut, thyroid, kidney, skin and liver health. Conditions such as hypothyroidism, fatty liver, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type II diabetes, & irritable bowel conditions. I help my patients by giving them symptomatic relief while working on repairing the underlying causes of metabolic stress and waste accumulation. Patients experience amazing results which are seen in their blood tests with improved thyroid markers, cholesterol, and liver markers.  As well as lower blood pressure and see relief from improved gastrointestinal symptoms like the ones that mean you need to know where every single toilet is before you leave the house.
